Artist bio: Lori is an art educator and ceramic artist. She has both her BFA and MFA in ceramics as well as her Colorado teaching certification. She has dedicated her career to helping others learn, appreciate, and find their inner artists. Throughout her journey, she has continually worked on her own art while learning about herself as an artist through her teaching and experimenting. Her passion for the outdoors has developed into a unique set of artworks, the "Aspen" pots. The physical nature of clay makes it a natural medium for her to pursue. Her love of clay started over 35 years ago and she continues to learn about this fascinating medium through workshops and classes.
While most pottery is shaped from the outside, her pots are stretched from the inside out. What would seem like an imperfection in some of them, most notably when the clay tears because it is so thin, is actually intentional; a correlation to the human condition. We all have imperfections and stretch marks. It s our imperfections and differences that make each of us unique and beautiful in our own way. Just as each Aspen is unique even though it is connected to the whole Grove through its roots.
